how is it that the church of rome tortured and burnt people on stakes when st. paul said one who is an heretic after the first and second admonition such a one reject; he is condemned of himself. nowhere did st. paul or anyone else including jesus christ himself say that a person who rejected the faith or who a church like yourselves considered that any person who did not adhere to the articles of faith which you thought were essential to be a member of your christian church was to be harmed in any way at all, but only to be rejected as not being a member of the christian church.
